Education

I have a keen interest in Education and am currently registered with the GMC as a recognised Educational Trainer. I train Specialist Registrars in Trauma & Orthopaedics from both Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme and Coventry & Warwickshire Programme as well as undertake regular teaching sessions for the Registrars on the BOTP. I also supervise Foundation Doctors, GPs and Core Surgical Trainees as an Assigned Educational Supervisor (AES) and as a Clinical Supervisor (CS).

I previously, along with my colleagues, helped deliver a national course, Basic Biomechanics in Orthopaedics (BBiOrth) for the last 10 years. I am a faculty member at the following courses

  • Basic Fracture Management Course, HEE WM
  • RAPID course, RCS Edinburgh
  • cABC Trauma Course, HEE WM
  • MRCS Prep Course, HEE WM
  • The West Midlands FRCS Tr. & Orth. Revision Course

Leadership

Since 2021 I have been a Training Programme Director for Education for Core Surgical Trainees at Health Education England, West Midlands. I along with my colleague Mr Michael Wall (Consultant Vascular Surgeon) deliver the regional teaching programme for Core Surgery Trainees. We at HEE WM have taken a leap in setting standards and delivering in-house courses for our trainees. Part of my role is to undertake Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP) for the Core Surgical Trainees. I also do interviews for Core Surgery Trainees at national selection.

Recently, I have been appointed to the Education Committee of American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons (ASES) which has further developed my practice, learning from global experts in Shoulder and Elbow surgery.

I am also Clinical Service Lead (CSL) for Countywide Trauma at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
